A new vintage. A long table. An afternoon for our Wine Club.

Every September, the vines wake almost overnight. The first green returns across the rows, sap begins to rise, and a new vintage quietly begins.

Most people think wine starts at harvest. We’ve always known it starts here.

Nouveau is our annual celebration of that beginning — a spring gathering held exclusively for Wine Club members. Not a public event with member tickets attached, but an afternoon created for the people who have supported Polperro and shared in its story.

A long table stretches across the deck overlooking the vineyard. Sam joins the table throughout the afternoon, opening bottles, pouring wines, and sharing the story of the season ahead. Farm-driven dishes arrive to be shared, inspired by whatever the land has given us that morning. Library wines are opened alongside bottles rarely seen beyond the estate.

As the afternoon unfolds, something special begins to happen. Inspired by the great Burgundian Paulée tradition, guests start sharing bottles from their own cellars. Old vintages reappear. Favourite wines are passed around the table. Conversations spark between strangers who quickly become friends.

For us, this has always been the truest expression of wine — not prestige, but generosity. A bottle opened and shared has a way of bringing people together unlike anything else.

By the time the fire pits are lit and evening settles across the vineyard, the table feels different. New friendships have been formed, stories exchanged, and another season welcomed.

Nouveau is a celebration of a new vintage, but more than that, it is a celebration of the community that surrounds it. A long spring afternoon shared with the people who make Polperro what it is, and a thank you we mean wholeheartedly.
