2024 Polperro Pinot Meunier

REGION

Mornington Peninsula

TASTING

Broody, mineral, complex and compact with an underlying power. Dark fruits present on the nose but also strawberries and toffee apple. While the palate is driving and energetic with bright red fruits and silky tannins it pulls into focus with a refreshing finish.

WINEMAKING

+

Handpicked, destemmed whole berries, 2 & 5 tonne open fermenters, natural fermentation, hand-plunged 2-3 times daily for 15 days, 15 days post-ferment on skins, seasoned oak, 10 months.

VINEYARD

+

The Hunts Road vineyard is situated in Tuerong, 130 metres above sea level. With sandier, well-drained soils, it’s a very open site and exposed to all the winds. Even though it’s a lower area and to the north of the Peninsula it’s actually a very cold site. One of the Peninsula’s biggest sites, its footprint occupies 66 acres. We farm this with two other wineries and share the fruit equally. Planted to predominantly Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. There are also a lot of alternative varieties planted: Fiano, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Meunier.

VITICULTURE
