Vintage 2025 Wrap-Up

Vintage 2025 was one of the biggest vintages we’ve had for five years. It’s also one of the most amazing in terms of quality.

The season began a little bit earlier – 10 days earlier, in fact. This remained consistent throughout the season, with bud burst arriving on the back of a warm end of winter, 10 days earlier than usual. Again running ahead of schedule, flowering began 10 days early in mid-November. It was also a little bit scary during this period with some cold, wet weather arriving. Luckily the soil temperatures were a bit warmer by this stage and we did not get quite the wind that we’ve had in the previous five years and as a result fruit set was reasonably successful.

We got through that little hiccup and it turned into a spectacular growing season with reduced humidity and disease pressure. As a result we were able to reduce the amount of sprays needed (find out more about our regenerative farming practices here) . Vintage commenced in late February/early March (once again, 10 days earlier than normal). Throughout this period weather remained fine and mild. It was warm, but we were lucky to be spared those extreme heat weather events. As a result, the wines that came into the winery were of exceptional quality with good length, acidity, palate weight and lovely aromatics.

They are going to be wines, I think, that will be approachable early on, but with the complexity, acidity, and length to age well into the years that come. The 2025 vintage was a much needed vintage, for sure, for all us winemakers.
